Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Determine job requirements
   • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs)
2. Comply with work health and safety (WHS) requirements at all times
3. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with SOPs
4. Determine set-up of slipping facility to suit vessel in accordance with organisational and legislative requirements
5. Set up slipping facilities
   • Take measurements to suit hull structure, where applicable
6. Position hull support bearers to suit hull structure, where applicable
7. Perform hauling out procedures
   • Position slipping facilities to suit slipping application
8. Position vessel to suit slipping set-up
9. Select vessel retaining ropes and secure in accordance with slipping facility and vessel retaining requirements
10. Ground/level vessel for positioning of hull support
11. Position hull support mechanics
12. Carry out safety checks of vessel stability
13. Perform launching procedures
    • Check vessel support and slip devices for safety
14. Apply pre-launch safety checks for vessel seaworthiness
15. Carry out launch practices according to standard procedure and organisational requirements
16. Re-position hull support devices to prevent obstruction during vessel removal
17. Moor vessel using appropriate restraints, where applicable
